When i came to Bright Moms I felt a lot of anxiety. I didn’t know anyone there. Would they be nice? Judgey? Would it matter that I didn’t go to church? Would my child get along with the other kids? I had a lot of reasons to not go, but a strong desire to connect with other women in our community- especially fellow moms- so I went anyways, and I am so glad that I did! At Bright Moms i found a community of strong women from all different walks of life who weren’t judgey at all. They surrounded me and my family with love and encouragement. They welcome questions, even if they didn’t have the answers. At Bright Ive shared wonderful moments of celebration like welcoming my second daughter into the world, and Ive been held during incredible lows like losing a beloved family member to cancer. I love that this group isn’t just for young women with little ones, but for all women. I love the different perspectives and just the total atmosphere of welcome and love from the moment you enter the building. There is something absolutely life-giving about being able to have an hour or 2 of time to be vulnerable amongst your peers while your children are being well cared for and loved on. Bright ministries changed my family’s’ life from being alone as newcomers to state we had no friends and family in, to feeling connected in a community that loves and supports one another. From meals for new moms, to prayers, laughter, and strong cups of coffee Bright Moms has not only helped me find the mom friends I desperately craved, but has taught me so much and impacted my entire family positively. My word of advise: if you’re on the fence about going, just do it, it may just change your life. -Libby Riggs
